Beijing,
May 23 (PTI): A record 24 Chinese mountaineers and scientists on Sunday
conquered Mt Everest, kicking off a state-of-the-art effort to re-measure
the world's highest peak and the most comprehensive scientific studies
on the effect of global warming in the Himalayan region.

[Feb. 19th, 2005] GLOBETROTTER Tibet exhibit premieres in
Victoria
An exhibit exploring the ancient cultures of Tibet will make its Canadian
premiere at Victoria's Royal British Columbia Museum from March 4
to Oct. 10.
The exhibit, Tibet: Mountains
and Valleys, Castles and Tents, comes from the Newark Museum and
will include artifacts such as artwork, sculpture, jewellery, clothing
and household objects, photographs from the early 1900s and a documentary
film. The oldest object on display will be a 13th-century tsampa
(grain) container inlaid with gold and silver.

- Death toll from road accident in
Qinghai rises to 55
The death toll from a severe road accident that happened Monday in
northwest China's Qinghai Province rose to 55, local sources told
Xinhua Thursday noon.
- Tibet experiencing warmer winters
Tang Xiaoping, an engineer from the local climate centre, has analysed
average winter temperatures in the region over the past 30 years.
He found that the temperature in the region has shown an upward trend.
In 1998 and 2000, the region had "abnormally warm" winters.
- Tibetan People Donate to the tsunami
disaster areas
Tibet Red Cross organized the local people to donate for those who
suffer a lot during the tsunami of Indian Ocean and lots of citizens
give a hand to the survivors for further reconstruction.
